Fresh Pineapple Tea

All around my neighborhood pineapple is on sale this week. At the price pineapple is selling for you can’t resist indulging in this delectable, healthy, fruit. Pineapple is a good source of nutrition, and helps with inflammation, digestion, and many other ailments. When most people eat pineapple, they discard the skin, and crown, of the fruit after cutting it. These people are missing out on a great easy way to make use of all the benefits a pineapple has to offer.

The crown once cut off makes a good garnish, if your cutting up fruit for family to eat right away. Place it in the center of your plate of cut pineapple. The crown can also be planted in your garden to grow more pineapple.

The skin makes a great easy tea, sometimes referred to as pineapple water. You can drink pineapple tea hot, or cold.

After you cut your pineapple up take the core, and skins and place them into a 8 quart pot. Fill the pot with water.

Bring this to a boil. Then simmer for 45 minutes. While simmering add honey, or sugar to sweeten. Ginger, tumeric, vanilla, and cinnamon, can also be added for flavor if you like.

Once done cooking place in a pitcher to cool, or enjoy while it’s hot. Refrigerate left over tea. Enjoy.

First Time Cooking Black Rice

Since I was a child I’ve always loved rice. Growing up hot bread, potatoes, pasta, or rice were served with most meals. Now at a older age in life I want to live eating more healthy. I try to eat carbs in moderation daily. I also have eliminated bleached foods from my diet.

When I eat rice it’s usually brown rice. One day someone introduced me to black rice. Once I tasted the black rice I fell in love. The flavor is stonger than brown rice, plus it has a lot of nutrients. Looking at it I thought this can not be easy to make, but I’m going to give it a try.

I purchased a 2 pound bag and said I will give cooking my own black rice a try. It was as simple preparing it as brown rice is. Now that I know how to cook it, I can have it any time. I prepared it with blackened chicken, and avocado & tomato salad, it was a great combination. Black rice also goes well with fish. With so many varieties of rice available, why not eat the ones that are most healthy for you.

So I love quick fix meals that are healthy for you. Especially after a long day of work, workout, and activities. I found Eat Smart’s Veggie Lo Mein Mix in the Store. I read the ingredients and was thrilled it had bak choy, broccoli stems, and collard greens amongst other delicious veggies. I figured it would be a wholesome quick dinner if I added some protien, and it was. I added shrimp, bean sprouts, onions, mushrooms, and peppers to the kit. It turned out extraordinary. I will definitely buy this again. You probably¬† could freeze the bag too like you would kale or any other green. Something I may try in the future. This quick meal gets two thumbs up.

Cucumber Rolls and Farro Salad

Yesterday while surfing the web, I found a recipie for cucumber rolls. I thought to myself, “wow this would be great on a salad”. The excitement of plating food is finding new creative garnishes to use. Edible garnishes are great accommodations to any meal.

The cucumber rolls were easy to make. Once you slice the cucumber on a mandolin, it can be wrapped in different ways. You can wrap it around any vegtable or stuffing you choose. Goat cheese, herbs, and mayonaise, were my choice of filling. I garnished mine with micro greens and tomatoes. Left over cold pesto salmon was used for the protein, but chicken or shrimp would go well too. farro salad was a great addition as well, with watercrest, arugala, and fennel. The salad was a good support to keep the cucumber rolls in place. Using green goddess dressing as garnish made this salad exquisite.

Stop Pull Up Bar Door Frame Damage

Pull up bars are great for at home workouts. However they can damage your decor over time. Don’t let your pull up bar damage your door frame.

You can stop damage from happening in advance with some easy supplies at home. I had to learn the hard way but you don’t have too.

All you need are a pair of hand towels, and some mailing tape. Wrap each hand towel around the end of each side. Then wrap tape over it. The cushion will protect the paint and wood frame of your door over time. Luckily my apartment is being repainted. This simple task will help you from having to repaint or replace door frames later. The extra cushion will distribute your weight properly on your door frame as you workout. You can workout stress free of wrecking your home.

Blackened Salmon Kale Ceasar Salad

After a good workout, everyone wants to eat something healthy. No one wants to stand up and cook for hours. Making this salad took 20 minutes. If you want homemade croutons add about five more minutes.

The salmon was quick and easy to sauté, in the same pan with the asparagus. A fresh egg can be boiled while you prepare your protein and asparagus. Chop your veggies while you cook everything. Toss you favorite cheese with your favorite greens. In this salad I used kale, white cheddar, and ceasar dressing. Something fast can be healthy and taste good.

Try adding different vegtables. Another night I used green beans instead of asparagus. It also tastes great adding some homemade croutons.

Cucumber Pear Juice

This juice is refreshing, and revitalizing. All these amazing fruits and vegtables are a refreshing way to get you going. The fun thing about juicing is you can add whatever you like.

The cucumber has vitamin K, C, B5, magnesium, manganese, and potassium. Cucumber is anti-inflammatory, energy producing, and it helps build bones, and your heart. So I decided to kick it up a notch with pears, celery, lemon, and honey.

Pears are great for burning stomach fat for that six pack ab. They are high in fiber, and help fight infection. This fruit is amazing. Pears help fight cancer, diabetes, gout, arthritis, and much more.

Celery is a refreshing root vegtable. It is a good source of vitamin A, C, B2, B6, copper, manganese, molybdenum, calcium, and potassium. This crisp vegtable is high in antioxidants as well.

Lemon has vitamin C, B6, iron, folate, magnesium, riboflavin, thiamine, and potassium. It is also high in fiber. Thus fruit cleanses your palate, while building healthy white blood cells.

Honey is a class of its own. This amazing sweetness can be an energy booster, or mood stabilizer for rem sleep. It’s also a antibiotic so it helps you fight infections. Great for your skin, hair, bones, and blood. I use raw honey for its super healthy powers.
